Austin: On Saturday night the North Central South Dakota Polytechnic Institute (Norcentral) Freaking Plovers rocked into Austin and rolled out with a hard fought 28-11 win over the Texas Longhorns.
The highly regarded Texas defense kept the Norcentral offense in check for most of the evening, limiting the Mobridge maulers to 299 yards. However the Freaking Plover defense equalled the task holding the Horns to 201 total yards.
Plover quarterback John Flowers made 12 completions on 18 attempts with 1 pick, good for only 142 yards but 2 scores.
Junior RB Seth Johnson led the rushing with 132 yards on 20 carries. Gary Wood picked up 28 yards but those were good for 2 TD.
During the game, Norcentral’s Head Football Coach and Chancellor (for life), Gomer S. Blake was seen pacing about the sidelines with his left arm in a black sling. According to the highly trusted news outlet Entertainment Tonight, Blake was injured during a late night intimate interlude with Plover Professional Co-ed Lynette “Squeaky” McLean at the Wrangler Inn.
We received a brief comment from Blake. “I was talking about new positions and Squeaky, bless her heart, didn’t apprehend that I was talking about the team, not us! Let’s win!”
Blake’s wife, Honeyloo, was not available for comment.
Next week the Plovers host 4th ranked Oklahoma in a game which will be pivotal for both the BI6 Conference Championship and a BCS appearance.
