Mobridge (AP): After losing their first two games of the 2020 campaign, the Virginia Tech Hokies hoped to turn their season around. It was not to be as the North Central South Dakota Polytechnic Institute (Norcentral) Freaking Plovers prevailed by a score of 42-7.
The Plovers took the opening kickoff and a mere 28 seconds later scored on a 60 yard strike from quarterback Jason Flowers to flanker Gary Williams. Flowers would complete 7 of 9 passes for 276 yards and 4 TD on the day. Wideout Kyle Powell caught 3 passes for 3 TD and 196 yards.
After the third quarter, the Mobridge Maulers went to the bench giving some valuable experience to the younger players. Running back Gary Wood got his first touches as a Plover. The redshirt freshman from Andrews, Tx had 8 carries for 48 yards.
Next week the Plovers visit #15 Notre Dame.
