Plovers Hammer Tigers

MOBRIDGE, SD (AP): The North Central South Dakota Polytechnic Institute (Norcentral) Freaking Plovers wanted to make a statement on Saturday to wiggle their way back into the top spot on the AP Coaches Poll. They delivered that statement before 49,999 fans at John Reid Field at Cold War Memorial Stadium, as the Plovers rolled 49-3 over the fifteenth ranked Clemson Tigers.

Senior running back Kyle McDonald thundered for a career high 285 yards on 26 carries with 2 touchdowns. Quarterback J. P. Richardson completed 11 of 16 passes for 195 yards and 3 more tallies.

The Plover defense celebrated the return of defensive backs Lance Atkins and Sean Marks, who were suspended for the first two games of the season for breaking unspecified team rules. The Plovers held the Tigers to 248 total yards with a stout -3 yards on the ground.

The game produced the first turnovers of the season with Clemson losing two fumbles. Richardson tossed an interception to kill a 60-yard, 8 play drive in the second quarter.

Plover Head Football Coach and Chancellor (for life), Gomer S. Blake commented at his post-game presser. “I’m extraneously proud of Kyle’s performance today. He made some fanatic moves in space to pick up contingent gains. Let’s win!

Our defense was superlative tonight. I love the way they kept plays in front of them and applicated constant pressure on the passer. Let’s win!

Convertly, J.P.s play was prophetic. Prophetic I say! This week I have some especial drills in mind for J. P.”

Next week the Plovers host the #8 Wisconsin Badgers.
